Big changes! Smsflag2014 (600x300)

As some of you will already know from our last meeting and our Facebook page, we're expanding the potential of the club by opening up to all sportscars with a British heritage. These include Lotus, Jaguar, TVR, Mini and Aston Martin to name just a few.

The thinking behind this is that clubs can become stale quicker these days as more and more folk move on quickly to other cars and switch their interests. Those that remain become a small group and crave new stuff to talk about and look at. So what better way than than to bring in new blood with similar interests so that conversation can become a little more diverse and gatherings more visually stimulating.

However, we don't want to lose the spirit that has made Southmids Sportsters a well known and loved group, which is why we're keeping the British heritage theme. MGs are unavoidably going to be at the heart of the group as that's it's own heritage, but with existing members becoming involved with other similar groups, we hope we can do more whether we welcome them as members or arrange collaborations in the future. It has already been suggested by our good friend Iain that we could do reciprocal meetings with the Lotus group he has become involved with, and I'm hoping he will be able to gain some interest soon.

So, my fellow SmSers, let's see what the future holds for us. And if you have any feedback or creative ideas that could benefit the club, please feel free to post here. This is a members' club and the members are the ones at its heart...

Thanks for all the support for the last five years!
