Matt

Can you tell me if you have a car with a DPF and then have it removed will it pass it MOT, assuming that it doesn't smoke and no lights are on??????

No, all vehicle's now must have a Catalytic converter or Diesel Particle Filter fitted for the MOT if it was fitted with one from the factory.
Having a DPF/Cat 'by-pass' pipe fitted is a fail. Sports Cat's and high performance(sports) DPF's are fine as long as your emission test passes.

Now I am not telling you to do this as you should not, but if the DPF is still in place but has had the internals removed (bashed out) and there are no clear signs that the DPF has been tampered with(obvious after market welds) and passes the emission test (most will without filter fitted and not having retune) then there is no problem. (you will have to have a DPF deleat re-tune on the ecu) Same for CAT's on petrol engines.
