December monthly meet 6th..
Along with this being a reminder for the monthly meet next Thursday the 6th, it is also for a few people as I would like to check on items to bring with me
Lee, still want those 215/40/16's if so I'll bring them with me
Nick, I'll try and remember to bring the 2 Metro interior switchable lamps
anyone else???

Re: December monthly meet 6th..
Well Overstone Manor was packed last night and the food took an age to arrive (for those not doing Carvery) but our slight change of location in the pub was comfy and warm! Nice to see a few faces we've not seen for a while.
Just looking forward to the Christmas bash now... Two weeks today!

Yes an enjoyable meeting, it was easier to talk to those there with the table arrangement.
The food did take an age but the prices are unbeatable.
Thanks also to you Matt, your knowledge of things automotive is impressive and advice appreciated.

Re: December monthly meet 6th..
Been away for a few months and it was nice to be back
Enjoyed being in the new room as it was cosier and as mentioned did seem easier to talk to each other, also found that it was quieter in there (would we be in there for the Xmas do Rich?)
Was a bit of a wait for food but I don't think I had to wait quite as long as everone else so not too bad, it was busier than usual but I think you can put that down to the month with everyone having christmas do's (any excuse for a piss up)

Re: December monthly meet 6th..
Matt, it was only temporary as our usual area was packed with Christmas party people. We'll be back in our usual area next meet and also for our Christmas meal. We were also shown the conference room as an option but that didn't seem cosy at all, although its behind closed doors and offers lots of space. The downside of the area we were in is that normally people would be walking through it to get to the room on the other side...
Re: December monthly meet 6th..
Thats a shame, maybe for the next monthly meet as it shouldn't be as busy so no through traffic to disturb?
btw you got the pics ok a presume?

Re: December monthly meet 6th..
Put my ten pence worth in................we thought it a nice change and it really was easier to talk to everyone.
Maybe we should try it again in the new year Richard? If it does not work out we can change back again.

Re: December monthly meet 6th..
The problem would still be there though. We had a very small turnout this month so we all fitted one side. If we have our normal turnout we'll be split down the middle and we can't move most of the seating as its screwed in!
We are very lucky to have the area we do now so I am very reluctant to change it. Many clubs just get the conference room which is nowhere near as comfy as the area we have reserved now. That or the area we had for the first part of last year which offered a similar layout but wasn't 'private'. It should be noted that the area we have is usually charged at £120 for a booking and is given to us for free as a huge favour.
However, I could always ask the venue if we could rearrange the tables a little more. Much of the issues we have at the moment is groups of the same people sitting in the same place and not mingling with others - a trait that seems to happen with many clubs, although I feel we aren't as clicky as some. Ideally a seating plan that put us in more of a central layout would be far more 'sociable'. I am quite prepared to arrive a little earlier to sort this out.

Re: December monthly meet 6th..
Thanks Richard
It does sound like a plan, arranging the tables a little should do the trick perhaps.
I guess it does depend on how many turn up to club night and as you say, it varies.
Take care
