MGF VVC mk1 Breaking
Bought a mk1 VVC in BRG with a friend with HGF no Tax or test and decided to break the car instead. Just about all parts are available, its basically standard other than a stainless exhaust (Longlife) with oval pipes(looks like a scrunched up sleave) I'm going to do the gasket on the engine and get the thing running to make sure the engine is all ok before selling it, butif anyone needs anything let me know and I'll see what we have

Re: MGF VVC mk1 Breaking
Matt, I'm after a part but I dont know what it is! basically attached to the underbonnet fusebox theres a thing (possibly relay?) at the top right attached to the outside. I seem to have it but the cover is missing , hence I dont know what it is. If you undrstand my description you're a better man than me! photo added below
I know Ben is after a scuttle panel of the one you have is in good nick

Re: MGF VVC mk1 Breaking
Think thats called a relay jumper Nick as all it does is bridge 2 contact pins of a relay wiring plug socket.
Andy it does have the original aerial
Try and keep a list of things, I was going to go down tomorrow but due to a little injury this week (120degree coolant and my skin don't mix well) its a bit pointless as I can't do much hands on.

Jeez Matt that sounds nasty, hope you get better mate. Thanks for naming the mystery thing, should it have a cover over it?

Re: MGF VVC mk1 Breaking
No cover, as you see it in the pic thats how it is.
Its not too bad now as I took off my bandage last night so it can breathe, pealed off abit of skin in the process and today I've been pushing the skin back into possition due to movement lol

I reckon a picture is needed in our recently created 'Accident & Emergency' section for posterity!Matt Parker wrote:Its not too bad now as I took off my bandage last night so it can breathe, pealed off abit of skin in the process and today I've been pushing the skin back into possition due to movement lol
Hope you recover soon mate...
Oh, and just in case Andy forgets to ask, what's the windscreen wiper mech like?
Re: MGF VVC mk1 Breaking
We have a nice picture that could be added there. Dawn's broken her elbow.Rich wrote:I reckon a picture is needed in our recently created 'Accident & Emergency' section for posterity!

Re: MGF VVC mk1 Breaking
Handles are bog-o standard-o
Starter motor is on but can't test it just yet due to no battery terminals, should be fine but like to check it first. Sure I have afew starter motors in the garage anyway if you need one.
Andy wiper motor assemble, shouldbe good but need power to test first
All being well I will go down next week and start to strip parts etc so I can let you all know the status

Re: MGF VVC mk1 Breaking
Hi Matt, how are the rear spheres? As you may remember my suspension is a bit all over the place and I got some standard F replacements (with lowering pins) all round, but despite myself, Nick and Ben fiddling and racking our brains, the rears seem to drag their arse while the fronts are doing a good impression of a 4x4! If you know you've got a couple of decent rears let me know, unless you've got any other ideas as to what i could try? If so i will put it on another thread obviously.

Re: MGF VVC mk1 Breaking
Memory serves me right the rears look in good condition whilst still being clean with visible part numbers, failing that I found I have a full set of good F cans that I didn't know I had lol.
Added you to the list of parts anyway, I haven't done anything this weekend so it will be next week before going to the car now.

Re: MGF VVC mk1 Breaking
Thanks Matt, much appreciated. I shall be trying to see what I can do over the coming week with what I've got so don't rush to sort them, get your hands fixed first!!

Re: MGF VVC mk1 Breaking
Hi Matt, I'm after a small but annoying bit of plastic. After my recent dash swap I have misplaced one of the little plastic covers that hides the bolt head by the screen demisters at the screen end of the dashboard. If you have one around and I paid for it + postage would you be ok to send it? My OCD is starting to kick in and it's very annoying

Re: MGF VVC mk1 Breaking
Shouldn't be a problem Nick, just have to make a reminder for when I go down to the car. It hasn't been touched at all due to the house taking up my time these days. Got to sort out parts off the car for kiwi Dave shortly so should make a start of dismantling
