Goodyear advice on Eagle F1 Tyres Empty Goodyear advice on Eagle F1 Tyres

I contacted Goodyear after recieving differing advice on tyres for my TF. I also noted alot of confusion on other forums on this subject, especially regarding the country of origin of tyres and the differing of performance. This was there reply:
John

I assume you refer to sizes 195/45R16 EAG F1 GSD2 80W TL RO and 215/40ZR16 EAG F1 GSD2 82W RO TL , in the description the F1 tyre for your vehicle is the GSD2 which is German made , not the GSD3 version which should not be fitted to your vehicle.[/size]

Note the advice about GSD3

IIRC, the main advice was that GSD3 are ok, but under no circumstances should you mix GSD2 and GSD3.

Interesting information that you have had back though.

Is it just me then but I read that you should NOT! fit GSD3 to an MG TF

To be honest, I only really know that you must not mix them. Doesn't really affect me with my F, as I really love the Toyo Proxes T1R's that I have had. Had the T1S before that and they we also very good.

Goodyear advice on Eagle F1 Tyres Empty MY Tyres

Post  Guest 30/5/2008, 7:56 am

Sadly the previous owner fitted the wrong size tyres and I have 195 45 16`s on all corners. Only one is Eagle F1 and the others Nanking. I am not at all happy with that set up for obvious reasons and will change them as soon as practicle. I have only driven 700 miles in my MG so far in all weather and to be honest have not experienced and handling difficulties with this rubbish tyre mix. I will be very careful till I get the correct rubber though.

That's not good getting the sizes wrong.

For the info about the GSD2/GSD3 thing, here is link http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/popups/tyres/GS_D3.htm
