engine transplant on mgf vvc
Does anyone know any garages in the area that would put a replacement engine in my VVC and if so any idea of cost?

We would...
Are you after a cost supplied & fitted (will be an exchange unit from XPart) or just to fit an engine you supply?

I spoke to Russel about this once and he does do them, he recons easiest way is to remove the head, then drop the engine out the bottom. It's a time consuming job, but might be worth giving Russel a bell for a quote. if this is the F with the dropped valve you've mentioned over on .org that could work out for you anyway.
Best of luck matey...

PM responded to we'll always look to be as competitive as possible although unfortunately we have a disadvantage against Russell and the like as we've got a workshop and other overheads to pay for

Re: engine transplant on mgf vvc
It appears I should just need a new head, but it would appear it still be cheaper to buy a whole engine, anybody know of any good breakers locally that might have a vvc lump at a good price???

Try Intapart in Daventry there's a few F's and TFs floating around their yard.

Hate to state the obvious, but how do you know a lump from a breakers is going to be trouble free? It may work out slightly cheaper than rebuilding the original engine but mat also prove to be a false economy.
Just a word of caution.

True
But to have the head rebuilt will cost at least £400/600, it problably need all new valves and the vvc mech repaired.
Anybody know any good repair guys in the area for head rebuilds.

Re: engine transplant on mgf vvc
Matt Stephens (ex MG now Pirrelli rally experience operator) has a workshop near Silverstone. He's very thorough, knows the VVC inside out and works to motorsport standards. He did Dawn's HGF last year. Probably won't be the cheapest though. I can forward his mobile number if wanted.
