I would go K&N as they are the real specialists. I have them on the B and they are brilliant.

As with the older cars instead of putting bigger needles in the carbs I would also fit a bigger throttle body unless TFs have the bigger one already?

cheers

Thanks Dave! I was thinking K&N but some also recommed another ITG(???)

The TF already had the 52mm TB as Standard!

My induction kit is K&N, didn't really notice much difference before the exhaust went on, except a real deep roar when you plant your foot.

( But it makes a difference now ) Very Happy

but do you have an induction kit or just a replacement filter?

The TF already has an induction system better than most after market ones you can buy, i am just after changing the panel filter, to improve my MPG i may get better throttle response but it would be negligable, plus im not too worried about that!

ITG systems are supposed to be the best if you are replacing the whole intake system and enclosed filter, but for just a panel filter in an existing system the K&N wins every time. Got one in the 'F and in the Rover ZS!

Of course, I ripped out the naff air intake system from the 'F and as many of you know, I used the Roger Parker Rover 827 airbox system, but it's a K&N cone filter inside...

As you hinted Paul, the TF air intake and enclosure were completely changed for the TF after the 'F was found to be very restrictive. However, the ITG will still improve on it. But then you have to ask the question of whether the slight improvement warrants the cost of the system. Also, as Marcus has said, there's no point in doing any of it unless you have a reasonably free flowing exhaust to compliment it.

As Mr Parker always says, think of the car as a long pipe with water running through it and the air filter, engine and exhaust as stopcocks along the pipe. You need to open all the stopcocks, even if just a little more than normal, for the water to flow more efficiently... You got that? Wink

does anyone know the K&N part number / code for the TF160 panel filter?

The K&N website doesn;t have the 160 in the list only the 135, so do i assume its the same(usually it would state if it was the same)
